Red Dragon's maiden voyage

After a summer of commissioning and sea-trialing her extensive systems, Red Dragon left Auckland in early April, bound for Bali and the Seychelles. Her maiden ocean voyage was accomplished without incident in a fast passage and by early May, the owners were on board in the Seychelles, enjoying their first cruise.

Captain Ben Marshall sent a brief email from the Seychelles:
“We had a very fast, safe and good trip from Auckland stopping at Bali to refuel and the Chagos Archipelago for a quick dive and then on to Mahe in the Seychelles for a photo shoot and to pick the owners up for an 11 day trip.”

From the Seychelles, Red Dragon was bound for Turkey, via the Red Sea. For this passage, through an area marked by security concerns and political issues, Red Dragon took on additional crew highly trained to protect people and property in all circumstances.

Red Dragon will spend the Northern summer in the Mediterranean and the owners have kindly agreed to allow Alloy Yachts to show the boat at the Monaco Boat Show in September.

Red Dragon is a 52m (170ft) sloop designed by Dubois Naval Architects for European owners, Guy and Myriam Ullens. She has a contemporary interior designed by French architects Wilmotte & Associates. She was built in aluminium by Alloy Yachts and delivered in February this year.
