Seatec 2007, the fifth international exhibition and ship- and yacht-building technology and subcontracting, due in Marina di Carrara from 1st to 3rd February, proves to be, once again, the perfect venue for a factual confrontation of well-established designers as well as being a stepping stone for those beginners who wish to make the most of their creativity in ship and yacht building.
A date not to be missed for design firms and designers working in the marine world, the event has become, since its very beginning, a landmark for the world of design and the most important world-class exhibition in the Mediterranean area in the field of business-to-business fairs.
As well as Project Island, an area in which design firms and designers can showcase their works and meet shipyards managers, Seatec 2007 devotes the opening day to yacht design with the fourth MYDA – Millennium Yacht Design Award – an international yacht design competition, and a conference on “Technological breakthroughs in materials?.
Promoted and organised by CarraraFiere and sponsored by AS.PRO.NA.DI (Association of Yacht Designers), the MYDA award is given to two sections: new units and new designs.
In the new units section, the award is won by the best boat built and completed in 2006, both sail and motor boats, up to 10 metres, 10 to 16 metres, 16 to 24 metres and over 24 metres, respectively .
The new designs section includes, instead, two awards: one for professional designers, one for beginners. The winning designs must be substantially completed but not built yet.
The award-giving ceremony will be held on Thursday 1st February, during the “MYDA Day?, in the presence of the jury, composed of authoritative professionals from the marine, academic, design and industrial world.
The designs that have won the fourth MYDA will be exhibited in the “Abitare il Mare? area, in Hall D, all devoted to yacht design.
After giving the awards and mentions to the winners, the MYDA Day goes on with the conference on “Technological breakthroughs in materials? a more and more pressing subject for designers and naval engineers. Authoritative professionals from the marine, architectural, design and industrial world are expected to attend the conference.
