On October 26 in Fort Lauderdale, Yachting Developments Limited of New Zealand will find out if one of its latest launchings, Vesper has won a Superyacht Society Design Award for sailing vessels of 23m to 36m.
IAN COOK of Yachting Developments says the company is thrilled that Vesper is a finalist in the category, and is looking forward to the winner being revealed.
“She is a unique boat and one that our team invested much time and passion in,? says IAN COOK.
Vesper, a 28.8m pilothouse sloop designed by German Frers, was launched in Auckland in November 2005.
The international owner, who oversaw the project through logging on to his private web cam and viewing the yacht during construction by Yachting Developments, selected to work with Yachting Developments because previous projects had proven their ability in detailed finishing skills, workmanship, and ability to work to a tight timeframe. He sought a high performance sailing boat that would retain its value, and placed an emphasis on cruising rather than racing.
The Superyacht Society Awards are described as recognizing ‘the very finest naval architecture, design, interiors, engineering and builds in the yacht industry over the previous year’. If successful, Vesper will join the Dubois 111 foot Silvertip as a contributor to Yachting Developments’ trophy cabinet. There are only five finalists in the category.
