DESIGN
Seatec has allocated a wide area to ABITARE IL MARE, equipped with stands for the Italian companies that produce the very best designs in the mass production of tables, chairs, upholstered furniture, beds and furnishings. Within the area we also find the the ‘Project Island’ where naval architects, designers and engineers will showcase their designs and services.
In addition, the area hosts the life-size mock-ups prepared by the winners of the international Furniture Design Award, now in its 2nd year, an exhibition of designs that have won the fourth MYDA - Millennium Yacht Design Award.
The news for 2007 is the first ABITARE LA BARCA award, open to university students from the faculties of Industrial Design, Naval Engineering and Architecture. The “Abitare la Barca? zone also hosts the ART BOOK TRIENNALE of Milan, which was already there in 2006, Italian design and marine magazines, the Cafè.
In the midst of this area, the agora, a ‘piazza’, that will be a meeting point for exhibitors, ship-owners, designers, architects, Project Managers, line architects, purchasing managers and all those people who have to do with the interior decoration of yachts, super-yachts and cruiser liners.
COMPOSITE MATERIALS
An important section of the exhibition has been allocated to the Composites Island, which hosts the manufacturers of composites and composite-processing machinery. An initiative supported by Assocompositi, an association which will organise technical and scientific workshops about marine composites.
THE WORLD OF SAILING
Area Race, now in its second year, hosts the suppliers of sailing equipment and components: masts, deck equipment, technical wear and many initiatives, both within the fairgrounds and at sea. The big names of sailing will not be missing: managers of the Italian Sailing Association (FIV), Olympic classes and the companies that support competitive sports with more and more efficient technological products.
Meetings and other events:
As usual, Seatec offers workshops, meetings and events attended by authoritative experts who address strictly technical subjects, raising questions and exploring topics that the marine world has to face every day. The schedule of the conferences will be available from November at www.sea-tec.it
Absolutely new for 2007 is the YEF – Yacht Engineering Forum, organised by Seatec/CarraraFiere in cooperation with Meccanonet, with the support of Yachts Italia magazine; it will be held in Italy for the first time on February 3rd, the last day of the event; it will bring together engineers, designers, shipyard managers, technical managers, architects, ship’s masters and all those people who have to do with specialist yacht design. The subjects to be discussed include: the new frontiers in the forecasting of ships’ noise and numerical fluid dynamics; the age-old issue of Yacht Project Management and the interaction between the designer and the Plan Approval of the Shipping Registry.
