PREMIERE WESTREC MARINA IN JAMAICA IS RENAMED THE ERROL FLYNN MARINA

In attendance at Westrec Marinas’ open house and reception, celebrity Patrice Wymore Flynn, with her Hollywood flair created attention at The Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show to rename the The Marina at Port Antonio – Errol Flynn Marina. Patrice Wymore Flynn was present at the Westrec booth, designed by IK Designs, and autographed posters of herself and her famous husband for all show attendees who stopped by. Delightfully charming, young at heart and an elegant lady, Patrice still lives today on a 2,000-acre cattle ranch in Port Antonio Jamaica, tending it herself. She recounted the many memories of glamorous life with Errol and reflected that they would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at this occasion. She related many stories to the press who attended the Open House, including her wedding day in Monaco when all the stores shut down and the entire town celebrated in the streets as a declared holiday by Prince Rainier.

Errol Flynn’s connection with Jamaica began in the 1940s while he was on a sailing trip destined for the Galapagos. A storm blew his boat the Zaca off course to Jamaica and he discovered the northeast coast’s perfect harbor of Port Antonio. This jewel of Jamaica soon became the Flynn’s home for decades and as he wrote in his memoir, “After thirty-seven years of wandering I had found my Grecian Isle.? Westrec’s managed Marina at Port Antonio has now been officially renamed the Errol Flynn Marina, in tribute to the town’s most famous resident. “It’s amazing that even today Flynn’s presence remains an undercurrent in Port Antonio,? said William Tatham, Vice President of Cruise and Marina Operations for The Port Authority of Jamaica. “The renaming of the marina is merely an affirmation of what residents and visitors have known for a long time, that his mystique is still very much a part of the fabric of this part of Jamaica.? Patrice Wymore Flynn, Errol’s widow, made an eloquent statement to the attending press stating, “This endearing tribute to Errol is perfect in so many ways; he loved the sea, and he adored Port Antonio, so this is a wonderful union of his passions?.

Set in the beautifully decorated Ken Wright Cruise Ship Pier next to the Marina, the Errol Flynn Marina is a 32-slip yacht complex that accommodates vessels up to 350 LOA with a maximum depth of 17 feet. It also boasts single and three-phase power and shore storage and is an official Port of Entry with 24-hour Customs and Immigration. Boat repairs and maintenance are available at the full-service boat yard, which features a 100-ton boatlift, the only one of its kind in the Western Caribbean. Now with Norma’s at the Marina full service restaurant, overlooking the marina and Navy Islands, once home to Errol (featured on Conde Nast Traveler’s 2005 Hot List) open in full swing, the ambiance is complete. “It’s like going back in time, a perfect deep water harbor in a perfect setting of ultimate beauty?, stated Westrec Marinas’ Regional Manager, John Louis.
